Rental Rules
Require a minimum advance notice for bookings and treat the first and last days as pickup and dropoff days
Rental Rules
Rental rules control how far in advance customers can book and how rental days are counted for billing.
Minimum advance notice
Set how much lead time customers must give before a rental starts. Renters cannot pick a start date inside that window, which prevents last-minute requests you cannot fulfill.
- Go to Settings in the sidebar.
- Find the Advance Notice section.
- Set Minimum Advance Notice (hours) to the number of hours of lead time you require. Set it to
0to allow same-day requests. - Click Save.
The limit is enforced in the public catalog's date picker - dates inside the notice window cannot be selected.
Pickup and dropoff days
The Pickup & Dropoff Days extension changes how the first and last days of a rental are counted. When enabled, the first day is treated as a pickup day and the last day as a dropoff day, while every rental still keeps a minimum charge of one billable day.
This is useful if you let customers collect gear the evening before and return it the morning after without charging full days for the partial days.
Pickup & Dropoff Days is available on the Free and Pro plans.
To enable it:
- Go to Settings in the sidebar.
- Open the Extensions section and toggle Pickup & Dropoff Days on.
- Click Save.
When it is on, the catalog's date picker is labeled Pick your pickup and return dates, and the Crate shows each date group as "Pickup [date], return [date]".
