Manage optional extensions that add extra features to your HotCrate account

Extensions

Extensions are optional features you can enable or disable from the Extensions section of Settings. Each extension adds a specific capability and has its own configuration panel.

Available extensions

The extensions available to your account depend on your plan. Extensions that require Pro show an upgrade prompt when you are on the Free plan.

Current extensions include:

  • Rate Card (Free and Pro) - a dense gear-list with its own link and QR code. See Rate Card.
  • Rate Tiers (Free and Pro) - discounted weekly and monthly flat rates for longer rentals. See Tiered Pricing.
  • Pickup & Dropoff Days (Free and Pro) - treat the first and last days as pickup and dropoff while keeping a one-day minimum charge. See Rental Rules.
  • External Links (Pro) - add links to product pages, spec sheets, or videos on your items. See Items.
  • Subcategories (Pro) - organize items with two-tier categories that customers can filter by. See Categories.

Additional extensions may appear in this section as they are added to the platform.

Enabling and configuring an extension

  1. Go to Settings in the sidebar.
  2. Scroll to the Extensions section.
  3. Find the extension and toggle it on.
  4. Configure the extension settings that appear.
  5. Click Save.

Turning an extension off

Disabling works the same way: go to Settings > Extensions and toggle the extension off. Turning an extension off hides its features and settings, but your underlying data is preserved and returns if you re-enable it.

What changes when you turn each one off:

  • Rate Tiers - customers are charged your plain daily rate again; weekly and monthly flat rates stop applying.
  • Pickup & Dropoff Days - every day of a rental is counted normally, with no separate pickup or dropoff day.
  • Subcategories - your catalog filter shows a single flat list of categories; the nesting is hidden, not deleted.
  • External Links - the External Links field is removed from the item editor, so you can no longer add or edit item links while it is off.
  • Rate Card - the Rate Card settings and its shared link are hidden. To keep the extension on but only take the public link offline, set its visibility to private instead (see Rate Card).

Existing rentals are not affected. A rental created while an extension was on keeps the pricing and rental terms it had when it was created - turning the extension off (or changing its settings) only changes new rentals going forward.
