Tiered Pricing
Offer discounted weekly and monthly flat rates for longer rentals with the Rate Tiers extension
Tiered Pricing
By default, every item is priced by its daily rate. The Rate Tiers extension lets you offer cheaper flat rates for longer rentals, so a week or a month costs less than paying the daily rate for every day. Customers automatically get the cheapest price for their dates - you do not set a separate weekly or monthly price per item.
Rate Tiers is available on the Free and Pro plans.
How it works
You set two values:
- Bill a week as - how many days a 7-day rental is billed as. Default is 3 (a full week is billed as 3 days). Allowed range is 1 to 7.
- Bill a month as - how many days a 28-day rental is billed as. Default is 9 (a full month is billed as 9 days). Allowed range is 1 to 28.
For any rental length, HotCrate combines the daily, weekly, and monthly rates to reach the lowest total. The weekly or monthly rate only applies when it is actually cheaper than the daily total, so shorter rentals are never charged more than daily pricing.
Example, using a $100/day item with the default tiers (weekly 3, monthly 9):
| Duration | Daily total | With tiers |
|---|---|---|
| 3 days | $300 | $300 |
| 5 days | $500 | $300 |
| 7 days | $700 | $300 |
| 14 days | $1,400 | $600 |
| 30 days | $3,000 | $1,100 |
Enabling Rate Tiers
- Go to Settings in the sidebar.
- Open the Extensions section and toggle Rate Tiers on.

The settings panel shows a live example table so you can see the effect of your multipliers before saving.
Where customers see it
Tiered pricing is applied automatically wherever a customer picks dates - in the catalog, on item and bundle pages, and in the Crate total. The discounted price for the selected date range is shown without any action from the customer.
